SAMPLING USING THE BITTERLICH METHOD IN Pinus taeda L. PLANTATIONS WITH DISTINCT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

نویسندگان

چکیده

The Bitterlich method was studied with multiple basal area factors (BAF) in 3 Pinus taeda L. plantations located the Midwest of Santa Catarina, Brazil using different management regimes: without thinning (1344 trees.ha-1), one (789 and two thinnings (475 trees.ha-1),. Using parameters obtained from censuses, we sought to verify data sample treatments for variables V.ha-1, G.ha-1, N.ha-1 “d” through a completely randomized design each regime observing precision by sampling error accuracy detected real error. It observed that variable less impacted change factor (BAF), but estimates G.ha-1 were more consistent (precision accuracy) equal or than 5, mainly thinned areas. Even no significant differences any BAF experiments, performed greater 5 showed contrasting results managed areas depending on used. Sampling is influenced BAFs, decreasing reduction number trees counted within unit, direct consequence increase. errors always overestimated, regardless dendrometric management. largest between being identified experiment indicated use BAF, requiring intensity.

Introgression between Pinus taeda L. and Pinus echinata Mill

Loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) and shortleaf pine (Pinus echinata Mill.) have widely overlapping geographic ranges. Hybridization between the two species has interested tree breeders for a long time. Morphologically, the two pine species are different. The needles of loblolly pine are 6 to 9 inches long, usually with three yellow-green needles per fascicle; but shortleaf pine needles are 3 to 5...

Association genetics in Pinus taeda L. I. Wood property traits.

Genetic association is a powerful method for dissecting complex adaptive traits due to (i) fine-scale mapping resulting from historical recombination, (ii) wide coverage of phenotypic and genotypic variation within a single experiment, and (iii) the simultaneous discovery of loci and alleles. In this article, genetic association among single nucleotide polymorphisms (58 SNPs) from 20 wood- and ...

Intensive management modifies soil CO2 efflux in 6-year-old Pinus taeda L. stands

Intensive forestry may reduce net CO2 emission into atmosphere by storing carbon in living biomass, dead organic matter and soil, and durable wood products. Because quantification of belowground carbon dynamics is important for reliable estimation of the carbon sequestered by intensively managed plantations, we examined soil CO2 efflux (SCO2 ) in a 6-year-old loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) plan...

Micropropagation of Pinus taeda L. via axillary buds

Introduction Pinus taeda stands for productivity and quality of its timber [1]. Researches using biotechnology are of great importance and have been applied to the improvement of its timber and plantation [2]. The main method of Pinus propagation is by seeds, once the minicuttings depends on the season of the year or depends of juvenile material [3-5]. Thus, researches on micropropagation of Pi...

Determining the best form factor formula for Loblolly Pine (Pinus taeda L.) plantations at the age of 18, in Guilan- northern Iran

In order to determine the best form factor formula for Loblolly Pine (Pinus taeda L.) plantations in Talesh (Western Guilan province-Iran), a number of 110 trees were selected based on their distribution in diameter classes, from 12 to 34 cm (in a two- cm diameter interval). First, several quantitative factors including diameter at breast height, diameter at 0.65 m of height, and diameter at st...
